    White Lipped pythons..?

I'm just curious if anyone has experience with White Lipped Pythons, aka D'Albert's pythons? I don't know much about them, aside from my idle curiosity at this point. But oh my, they are gorgeous snakes! Would love to own one at some point.

But from what I've generally heard of them, they can be pretty nasty. As bad as African Rocks. Does anyone own one, or had one at some point? Would love to know.

I have experience working with them a few times, and I can say yes they have a nasty attitude and will bite if given the chance. But with all snakes they can calm down over time, but while there babies you have to be careful lol.

I had one back in the mid 90's and it never once attmepted to bite. Awesome snakes, I would love to have one again someday when I have more space.

I love the gold phases, and even got to hold a black phase adult at a show once. It was a peach.

The best way to try to find one that is handleable is to consider looks second in priority to temperament.

I have one and she is great. I found her at a local reptile shop as a wild caught gold phase. She is beautiful and amazing to hold. She doesn't bite but can be a little irritated when first picked up with some puffing. Otherwise a great eater and so I named her Golden Grace.

My only other experience was with a friend that picked up a black phase baby captive hatched and it was the devil reincarnated like one of my young jungles from Mr. Hare's stuff. I think he finally moved him out of his collection.

If you can locate a docile gold phase you won't be disappointed. Skin is very iridescent, very soft, and they are the fastest strickers around.

    Good luck.

My friend has a white lipped python who is determined to turn his arms into ground meat! She's a nasty little critter! But that's what makes her special!

I've never had experience with them, but I've seen them. Everyone I've seen has been a jerk. They have a gold phase at the local reptile shop here and she is no exception to the rule. Beautiful snake though! Absolutely gorgeous.

    Thumbs up

Wow, I guess that I'm really lucky with my golden girl that I picked up at a local reptile shop as a wild caught and a small scar. She is great and is cool to handle. If I hold her still she will just get comfy and not move but if I move around a little then she's a movin.

I wish I could video to show you just how perfect she is. The only other one I've seen in person was a baby devil black phase captive bred and I think he found a new home for it. It was a bad as a couple brother Jungle Carpets I got that are simply the most aggressive little buggers you can imagine. They will come out of their cages and get you like a Blank Mamba would chase you silly. I must put my snake charming skills to work soon cause they are going to breeding size next season.

I suggest to keep asking around as I can't believe I have the only one that's a perfect Golden Girl so named Golden Grace!!!
