I got Jackson a new UTH a couple weeks ago. My thermometer reading has been great- 89-92, steady. I hooked up the overhead heater to my thermostat, just in case it got really cold in there at night. SOoo.. today I turned the thermostat up to see how high it would go before the over tank heater kicked on- and it was up to 98 degrees! I am just appalled that it is so hot in there...
So my question is on the placement of my thermostat. I have the sensor on the ground in the hottest part of his tank, and the thermometer is off the ground about an inch. Is this good placement of it?
Should I just hook my thermostat up to the UTH and lose the over tank heater? The thermostat is the kind that turns the power on and off to the heat supply, if that makes any difference. Thanks!!
