Yeah, either gender can secrete fluids, and it's not uncommon for them to defecate or urinate when being popped, so it's best to have a towel handy.
The female will have little white nubs and the male will have pink/red nubs that are much longer.

Someone asked for the identical thing last year. So I took these pics to help them out.
Male Hatchling:

Female Hatchling. I have it pointed out in the pic, but the little "nub" is the scent gland, and NOT a hemipenes. Hemipenes will be larger and dark red from all the blood as you can see in the above pic:
