New job; on to better things!
I put in my two weeks to Petco a little over a week ago. So, for any of you in the Olympia, WA area, you now have only a single reliable employee left at the Oly Petco as far as herps are concerned (PM me if you want the people to avoid and the people worth talking to =P). I'm sorry, and at the same time, incredibly excited to be done with the company. As much as I love helping customers learn the right way to care for the animals, it feels absolutely fantastic to be done with the stress that is involved with selling animals ethically/responsibly in a retail setting.
I start my new job as an auto claims processor on the 24th, and while I have no idea if I will like it any more than Petco, I know that I will be making more money, will have more consistent hours, and time spent with my animals at home will be more relaxing.. and not just "another day at work". I'm looking forward to being able to come home and clean the rats/snakes without thinking "good god.. I JUST did this for the last 6 hours at work".
They say money can't buy happiness, but it sure can limit the stress involved with paying bills and fixing car ailments. Of course, money can also buy a better place to live, with more room for herps... so maybe it can buy happiness in some form
Really, I'm just writing to say I'm happy with where my life is at the moment. I'm in LOVE with this hobby, and it's opened doors for me, it's motivated me to do more with myself =)

I will be happier if only because I no longer have to deal with the ignorance that is the animal department manager at this Petco.... she talks ALL the time about how much she loves hognose and how a hognose will definitely be her next snake. I picked up a breeding pair at the reptile show this weekend.. and showed them to her. She says, "Oh they're pretty.... what are they?". Seeing the nose a little later she asks, "are they burrowers?". Needless to say, when I'm producing hognose... she will not get any of them.
