    KSB Post-Feeding Attitude?!

Today was the first time my KSB had an attitude with me. He had just eaten his fuzzy, and I know usually after he eats he will get in this frenzy and just HAS to burrow under his bedding ASAP or the world will end. So today as usual he had finished and went into his "frenzy". I feed him in a tupperware container & when he finishes I carefully pick him & put him back in and he burrows under real fast. But today when I went to get him he snapped at me! I put him down and scolded him (which I know he couldn't hear me anyway, just a reaction lol) and I picked him up kind of hasty and put him in his tank. What a brat! I guess I could just put his whole container down and he can get himself out and burrow, but I didn't want him to think he could get away with being a brat.

Do anyone else's KSBs get all "wild" after they eat? I guess it was kind of funny but I feel insulted now!

    Re: KSB Post-Feeding Attitude?!

Guess he's living up to his name jk

Don't feel insulted. ALL snakes have the potential to go all crazy and "wild" right after they've been fed, no matter how sweet and laid back they are the rest of the time. Food brings out the primal instincts in all animals, and when they're in "feeding mode" and are still hungry they will snap at anything that moves. I've had all of my normally docile snakes go after me at least once when I was trying to transfer them back into their enclosures from their feeding container, and that's the main reason why I decided to stop transferring them back and forth and just feed them in their enclosures. I haven't had a problem since.

I understand the potential hazards of feeding a KSB in its enclosure though, so my suggestion would be to just let him slither out on his own next time unless you feel comfortable picking him up, and then maybe wear a gardening glove just in case. It's pretty common behavior for most snakes
