Urgh (rant)

So at my school, the biology class has decided they're going to invest in some reptile pets to observe and take care of for the year. A good incentive. However, they jumped right on in it without doing any research at all.

So they're receiving a shipment tomorrow consisting of 3 "American chameleons" (green anoles, but they're under the impression that they're getting chameleons because the place selling science supplies for schools apparently doesn't believe in using scientific names?) and a few fire belly newts.

The newts I'm not really worried about because they're hardy little buggers and are pretty easy to keep, but it's the anoles I'm worried about. They're already about four inches long (so I've been told) and they only have a 20 gal tank right now. I approached the teacher responsible and told her what she needed and how she needed to care for them, and I've been enlisted as basically the advisor and assistant caretaker for the lizards (the class is supposed to feed them and such, but I get to do whatever doesn't get done properly) and under my instruction she went out and got some Eco Earth, some vines for climbing and a heat lamp and bulb, but until the cages she ordered come in (she ordered them after the animals *face palm*) they're going to have to be housed together for a couple days so I'm hoping like heck that there's only one male.

I'm glad that she's willing to have me help her, and I'm glad that I'm able to help at least, but I really wish that they could learn their lesson and not get into class pets like this. There was clearly no research done. *sigh* I just needed to get that out there. It really ticked me off the way it was all done last minute like this. If there had been no reptile people in the school, what would they have done?

Okay, /rant. Thanks for reading this far They're arriving tomorrow, so I'll be setting up and unpacking them.

teachers read (and teach),,, but dont always know what their reading(or teaching),,, (history, english, music) you see where im going with this... its YOUR job to keep the teachers informed and in the right direction.... good thing the class has you!
