He finally ate his first rat!

And second after that, since they were crawlers, and the same size as the mice he was fed before...

I'm thrilled he ate the rats, hopefully it continues, with the same quick, responce (2nd rat I liken to "OMG WHY HAS YOU KEPT THESE THINGS FROM ME?!", even though I know he doesn't think that way), and we'll gradually move them up in size until he's on 1 every 7 to 10 days.

But.. I'm pretty sure I just watched him eat the 2nd rat alive... Either I heard the thing squeak and watched it open and close its mouth right before he finished swallowing (he ate it backwards...) OR I'm completely imagining it. I really hope I was imagining it...

Yeah... Leaving the rat alive was definatly not normal for Loki... Well, except the rat he refused a few months ago, but he's still alive and is now a pet

I had a corn snake who did that, it was horrible. I had to repeatedly take the mice/rats away to get him to strike and coil.

I guess I gotta be glad he at least tried to kill it... Including repositioning, and tightening his grip more.. But I guess he was too lazy and wanted the rat in his belly pretty darn bad. Little Pig...

Nope, no better feeling (Ok.. maybe if he wasn't so brutal with them.. It'd be nicer)

But, I guess since it was my 2nd attempt at getting him to eat rats. Nearest pet store doesn't have live rat pups, and as far as I know, petsmart doesn't have live available at all.

Hopefully by the end of November (if he doesn't go off feed...) He'll be on F/T.
