    Feed F/T

    Hi,
I have been feeding F/T and here is whats happening...

I let the mouse (hoppers right now) thaw..then hit it with the blow dryer. he takes it every time no problem. after he pretend strangles it he starts to position himself but he always goes towards the back of the mouse. once he gets to the middle though the mouse starts to fold and he eats it sideways. so instead of the mouse easing in he fits the etire thing in his head then starts to swallow. he always gets it down, never regurtates or anything but it looks very difficult.
is there some technique to get him to strike the right spot or idk is this fine? the hoppers are just barely as big as the biggest portion of his body so im not sure whats going wrong there.
im thinking about looking for a local breeder for mice because the pet store here do not have live feeders, and then feeding hijm live ones. im in Dallas TX

It's called the "I haven't figured out how to swallow it yet" syndrome. He'll come around, it's normal. Nothing to worry about.

when you hit it with a blow dryer and get the whole thing up to the right temp, give the head some extra attention and see if he goes for the warmest spot.

I have a 7 year old normal and he still does it. He always figures it out, but sometimes he tries to eat the rats legs or back or sides before he figures it out. Maybe it is because I have only had him for a few months and switched him to F/T after eating live his entire life, but I think he may be a little special too. I might try a little more heat on the head next week though.

Like has been said, give the head a little more attention. I wouldn't worry about it, though. He'll figure it out. We have a corn that did that for a while. I will advise you to move on to rats or at least larger mice unless he is a really small hatchling. Hoppers are a rather small meal.
