Angry snake
I have many snakes but this has got to take the cake. I went in to do regular cage maintenance on my ball pythons and my het pied male decided he wanted to scare me. He got all coiled up ready to strike and started swatting his tail on the ground. I have NEVER seen a non venomous snake do anything like that. I have been threatened by rattlesnakes and it was the exact same body posture. Well so much for BP's being happy to curl into a ball
Anyone else see anything like this before? Next time I clean his cage I need to remember my video camera.

Ha lol. I've seen my hatchling do something like this but not my adults.
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

My corn snake would rattle his tail at me whenever he was hungry. Sounded *just* like a rattlesnake.

I haven't seen any of my BPs do that, but one of my sister's rat snakes does that all the time.

The ready to strike posture, yes. But I've never seen them thump their tail against the ground. Now I kind of want to go poke mine to see if he'll do it. lol. Just kidding!!!
Not that he would anyway. He's so mellow, he wouldn't give a crap. Just give me the "are you stupid look" and go back into his cave. Spooky is very dignified. lol

Colubrids tend to do the tail rattle thing, my hognose does it and corns are known to do it as well. Didnt know balls did though .. what a rattlesnake

I'm pretty surprised that our beloved BP's can move their chunky butts enough to do that. lol
