    Lesson of the Day:

So, I found out this morning, the hard way, that if you have a Boaphile cage with locks DO LEAVE YOUR KEYS IN THEM!!!

I woke up this morning and went through my 4 am routine: let the dogs out, feed the dogs, make some lunch and check my the snakes. Grabbed the temp gun to spot check since the weather is getting colder here. In my haste, I left the keys in the locks. Not that I thought it would be an issue. I was wrong...

5 hours later I get a frantic call from my wife and several texts. The cage door to our orange hypo, Omega, was open and he was missing. Apparently he was exploring his little world and pressed the latch over... (I tested the theory with and without the keys and sure enough, the latch can be opened from the inside with the key in...)

She checked all of the heat elements and the immediate area with no success. I took an early lunch and came home to help out.
Our cages are in the living room which is baby proof but hardly ball python proof. Long story short: 3 hours later, after basically spring cleaning our entire first floor, my wife found him in the coat closet. The worst part is ... He was in a bag that I pulled out as soon as I got home to find a flashlight and then put right back... Observant aren't I??

Oh well he is safe, I know not to leave keys in the door, and the house looks great!!

Sorry for rambling, just thought I'd share our adventure!
