    I am really HAPPY!

Last week i went to get some small rats for my snakes when the shop keeper said he had some frozen rats now (they only started selling there own frozen ones). I said to him, well i have tried frozen mice on both of them without success but i had never tried frozen rats before. So i took him up on the offer and bought two live and two frozen for next week.

The rats made a complete mess of the cardboard box on the way home (probably scared to death ) but anyways after the feeding i put the frozen rats in the container with the poo and pee for a little bit of extra scent when i defrosted them and but them in my freezer (bottom drawer, no food in and would try my luck next week.

Well today was feeding day, and guess what! We have some success at last. I am over the moon!

My female, got the scent straight away and snapped up the rat just like a live one and ate it without problems. My male, unfortunately struck at the rat and let go, i left the rat in there with him to see if he will eventually eat it. But at least he showed an interest and i think he will take a frozen thawed rat soon.

This really is great news for me as i hate feeding live rats, and at the moment i only have two snakes so its no big problem defrosting 2 rats at feeding time.
I did take a quick picture of barbara eating her first frozen thawed ratty but it was a terrible pic, but i will upload it soon.

    I am thrilled!

That's AWESOME!!! He may have let go because the rat wasn't warm enough. The body temp could have cooled a little. My little pin does the same thing if I don't get rat temp up right, he's picky that way.

    However,

    congrats.

Congrats I thought for awhile that my bp wouldnt eat f/t either but she proved me wrong. the main thing i do to thaw them out is get water close to boiling then dump it over the mouse/rat in a glass then just let it sit there for awhile. I just want to make sure that they are good and thawed I dont want my bp to freeze from the inside
