    Kind of sad...

    But still happy!

I went to a local annual reptile show, mainly just to look around, but my girlfriend knew better.

Anywho, there was some kid (by reference I mean some twenty something year old guy/someone my age) who walked in with a 5-6ft Columbian and traded it to a guy at a table because he was scared of it. Apparently he was so intimidated by it that while he had it, he didn't handle it, feed it, or anything. Also he told the guy that it was aggressive. Well the man at the booth felt bad for the kid, and traded a cornsnake to him, though he didn't really want the red tail.

When I walked up and asked about it (mainly from curiousity), he told me the story, and also said that he'd sell it to me basically to cover the trade, which was $40. He didn't want her, but I sure did. I've never touched a boa before, let alone a decent sized one, but I opened the container, and picked it right up, and there wasn't any defensive reactions. Just a sweet ol girl(?).

The sad part is that myu girlfriend said that I didn't have enough space right now to get her, though I have the guys number, and I'm still trying to convince her.

    However!

I did convince her to let me at least pick up a little one! I found a herp society friend that let me get a male pastel het albino for $60. So for now, I have a young one, but I fell in love with that other girl.

I'll try to get some pics up soon!

Well it looks like things aren't so sad after all!

It took a couple of days to convince the girlfriend (whom now after more psychology/sociology classes thinks we act like a married couple) to let me call the guy who had her.

Well, after a phone call and $60, I met him, and took her home with me!

Right now she's in a tub that's too small for her, but I'm clearing space, and have a boaphile rack to consolidate my other snakes, so then should be able to get her in something better. She does have warmth and water for now though, and I'm leaving an old shirt in there for a day or two at a time. Other than that, I'm letting her settle.

She's about six feet I would guess from holding her briefly after she got home. and I almost got to join the boa bite club! While handling she tried to turn and go for my arm, but I had a good enough grip to control it. I didn't jerk, or freak out. Just lightly chuckled and told her that those things wouldn't work and she'll have to settle in time.

Now my girlfriend wishes she said no, she's a bit freaked out after the 'near bite'.

On the other hand the little pastel male I picked up is wonderful. He's already eaten, and is currently digesting.
