    Oil Filled Heaters.

How many of you use these oil filled heaters 24/7 in the colder months.

I purchased one and was told that they are not meant to be left running when you are not home - now I know I've read on here that many use these to heat their snakerooms - just wanted to check with you guys.

My assumption is the mfg stated this so as not to be liable in the event of a problem

I do have mine hooked up to a Ranco as a safety feature.

Please let me know if you guys let yours run all the time.

    Thanks

I would keep mine on 24/7, but there was almost always someone home. Since we've moved into the new house, I don't think I'll need to use it since we have central heating and excellent insulation.

The thermostat will cut the power so tecnicality its not on 24/7. I keep mine in what used to be the coldest room in my house and I rarely se it run in the winter

    Re: Oil Filled Heaters.

Mine tends to run continually because we don't keep our entire house at 77 degrees like I want my snakeroom to be at. Because I have a digital heater - I had to set my ranco at 85 degrees with my heater at 75 degrees - which means the ranco is only a safety shut off in the event that the digital built thermostat on the heater fails - so technically my heater is on most if not all the time.

Mine is hooked 24/7 during the cold months and has been for several years now.

Would I let one run 24/7 if it was not hooked to a external T-Stat? Absolutely not however with a T-Stat I have no issue doing so, plus with an external T-Stat it's not really on 24/7 it only comes on as needed.

I've had two of these on 24/7 for the better part of a year with no issues. One in my QT room, one in the main snake room.

I just got the Rancos today and added those in as well.

Mine used to be digital. I talked with one of the electricians at work and re wired it, here's a pic of one of mine the other is a non-digital type. the room that its in is non heated. I use a fan to keep the air circulating
