    Normal Love

I will be the first to admit, Douser isn't an exceptional snake. At least, not in appearance.

She is very special to me because she is my "rescue" snake. When I first got her she was being kept in a plastic "critter keeper" sort of cage with no hides, no substrate, and a water dish not even an inch in depth. She was covered in dead skin, was extremely underweight, and at the time I also believed she was blind in one eye (she happily shed through it and regained sight).

I took her to the vet and she was treated for pinworms, as well as severe dehydration. I worked with her for some time, and it was such a rewarding experience to see her grow and recover from her stress and illness.

Because I had to give her 30 minute soaks every day for quite some time, and because she had one milky blue eye that I thought was blind, my husband started calling her my "one eyed douser snake" and the name stuck.

    Anyway, enough rambling.

Here's Douser after returning from the vet:

And here she is now, about a year later:
