I'm sure he'll settle down once he's thoroughly investigated his new home. Congratulations, I remember how excited I was when I got my first ball!

Re: New Ball Mommy :D
He really was cute when I first saw him. He started off a ball in my hand but got comfortable in a minute or two and wrapped himself all around my fingers. He did curl up for a little bit, but he's back to exploring again. I swear he's been all over that terr 20 times by now exploring it from every angle.

Make sure to check out the BP care sheets in the forums and please feel free to ask lots of questions we like to help and give answers. Especially the old timers I am still kinda a newb but have learned a lot in the few months I have been here. Oh yeah and to BP.NET

Some do like to play from what I have noticed... Im no expert yet... I am newer to Snakes... But I have done alot of research, And met alot of awesome people that have been breeders/shop owners for years. BP's do have personalities, And not as dumb as people think. I have some that dont hardly leave the hide until its feeding day lol, Then a few pastels that wonder around 12+ hrs a day. You got you a fun one, And he is a handsome guy too... Congrats on your purchase...
When you buy more... Please look for your local breeder, Nothing wrong with the pet stores but I like to support breeders ALOT more then pet stores. You get a better deal, usually a better and more cared for snake. And this is only my opinion but I like to give it lol...

Love the name, and he's a cutie!
They do take some time to settle in, usually about a week or so... try not to handle him in that time, at least until he accepts a meal from you (and wait ~48 hours for digestion). Some are more active than others, though, so it could just be his personality - but if he seems stressed, or like he's constantly trying to escape, there could be an issue with your husbandry. Generally a happy Ball Python is a hiding Ball Python, LOL.

He remained pretty active yesterday, he was still out and wandering when I went to bed at about one. When I woke up this morning, however, he's happily tucked away beneath one of his two hidey huts (we have one on the warm side and one on the cool side). Seems like he's found a place to curl up in, we'll see if it lasts the day lol. Thank you all for the welcomes, I am happy to get such a great response. So far I am truly enjoying him, even if its just watching him. We haven't handled him at all except to transfer him from the box to the terr, so I am giving him plenty of time to adjust. He last ate Friday, so we're hoping to try our first fuzzy next Friday, crossing my fingers for the absolute best!

Re: New Ball Mommy :D
Welcome to the club...a couple of things.. 1st i would get him better hides i tried those half logs and they did not work so good..they like to have full closure on they backs and just an opening on the front of the hide so they feel secure..2nd if you are using a glass tank u might want to black out the sides...i noticed that u have a rock wall for the back that is fine.usally a ball likes to stay in they hides alot so that might be the reason he is roaming...not enuff security for him so he is looking for a good hiding place....by the way beautiful little man u have there ..
