So I've posted a couple times about this. My CA King just won't eat. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. His temps are fine, he seems healthy and is active.
He hasn't eaten since for over 2 months. He is usually a VICIOUS eater. He usually takes the extra small rats no problem at all. I've tried heating the rat up to about 100 degrees..nothing. I've left rats in his tub over night multiple times..nothing. I even tried taking him outside for about 15 minutes or so (I held him) and see if some natural sunlight might stimulate him, and nothing. He is in a 41qt sterrilite tub with a zoo med heat pad at one side. He heat pad is about 90 degrees and the ambient temp in the room is usually betwen 78-80 degrees F.
Should I try a different prey item? A mouse maybe? He was eating mice before I started him on rats..myabe he'll recognize the scent? He is about 5 feet long and I've had him since 2009. I don't know how old he is (how do you tell how old a snake is?) and I don't know if age plays a role in this.
Please help. Anything would be nice.
Thanks.
