    Tub Sizes for Hatchlings

    Hey Guys,

So the consensus is that 6qt/shoe box tubs are ideal for hatchlings. I was curious as to what the smallest tub size could be for a new born BP. I don't want to give them something too small but at the same time I am making a homemade hatchling rack and the shelf I have is only about 9 inches deep. Is it possible to keep them in something smaller or would I be affecting the health of the animal by doing so (which is the last thing I want to do). I am green when it comes to new born Ball Pythons and although I have economics in mind, the last thing I want to do is risk my babies.

    Cheers.

They grow very fast so 6 quarts is really ideal otherwise you gonna have to switch pretty fast.

I wouldn't go under 6qt. Larger is fine, but less than 6qt and you won't have any room.

Yup, 6qt/shoebox. Before you know it you'll have to move up to 15qt. It happens in the blink of an eye it seems. We've got some June 2011 balls that are going to be ready for 28qt tubs in the very near future. Scary!
