My bp keeps laying on his side. the begining half of his body is on his side and the other half he lays on his belly, was wondering if anyone has seen this behavior before. He doesnt do it all the time just every once and a while.

The one I had years ago used to do the same thing sometimes. I mentioned it to the vet during a checkup, she said it's just another way they can regulate their temperature. Is he doing it everywhere, or in spots that are over a heat source, like a UTH?

My big normal male does that every once in a while, too. Freaked me out the first time I saw it, because he looked dead. But he was just sleepin'.

Re: im confused
Thats how they self regulate their temps. Its one of the cool things about a ball python. Not all snakes have this ability. This is why its ok to let balls incubate maturnally. But remember they cant regulate to warm up they can only regulate to cool down. Females will do this when they are egg bearing as well. If they feel they are too warm they will lay over to regulate their temps.

Sounds like he's just trying to get his temps right then.
