I am just curious about what room you have your bp in? I will hopefully getting my new little baby tomorrow ( soo exited and nervous lol ) and was thinking for the first week should I still keep it in my living room so it gets used to us and dog being around as I would like so watch my little one seeing as I can't touch lol anyway what would you say I should do? Thanks in advance

Keeping it out in the open will only stress it out. Find somewhere quiet. And you can touch it. It won't blow up. I wouldn't keep it out for long periods or take it for walks or anything like that, but for a few minutes it'll be fine.

    Re: What room??

I keep mine in the dining room, its actually the quietest room in the house. I'd love to have a room to dedicate to snakes, but that is not possible at the moment. One day I hope.

I live in a 3 bedroom apartment with my husband. I keep the snakes in my room/office. Established collection in the closet, and QT on a shelf in the opposite closet. Wish I could do more, but it's better than nothing. I keep the closet doors closed most of the time so that they get peace and quiet, and so that if apartment management comes around I don't have any "contraband" out in the open.

You're right that you are only supposed to do water changes and spot cleaning - for the first week. Leave the snake totally alone for at least 7 days to let them get settled and used to things. Also, if you have a tank set up make sure the back and both sides are covered and insulated and that the screen top is treated with plexiglass or foil for humidity stability.

And the quietest (but still stable temp wise) room is usually the best. I keep my snakes in the bedroom whenever possible, as it's warm and quiet. My skink, by contrast, is always in the living room with his cage facing the TV as he loves watching movies and video games.

i kept mine in my bedroom at first then moved him to the living room as there was only one a/c in the house this summer and thats where it was. when i moved i just put him in the dining room and now him and his new friend will be going in the closet as soon as i build the rack to go in there.

I keep him in the computer room with us. That way he is always around us as we spend the majority of our time in that room.

It will be fine...despite what everyone says. BP's don't have calendars...their pea brains probably can't even grasp the concept of time...they're probably like dogs, you can leave for 5 minutes and come back and they act like you've been gone for a year...
