Pede or Scorp?
So everyone, I'm going to be tabling at the Montreal reptile expo this year with my store (no animals, just supplies), which means I'm going to be subject to all kinds of temptation all day long
I've been thinking of expanding a bit into other inverts, but can't choose between which to get first - a scorpion or a centipede?
Obviously I'm going to end up getting at least one of each (because I'm me and have no willpower ), so it's just a matter of order.
If I go for the scorpion, I'll probably go with the redclaw Pandinus cavimanus and if I do a pede I'll more than likely be looking for a cherry red Vietnamese Scolopendra subspinipes sp. dehaani (I think that's how you spell dehaani haha).
Which would you go for first in my place?

I like both but I would get the scorpion first personally and that's for no other reason other then I like scorpions better between the two. I have really wanted to pick up a pede or two myself at some point but I have never gotten around to it. There always seems to be something I want more so they have not been added to my collection yet

The question is, do you want to be able to handle it? If so, then you'd want a scorpion. An emperor. Desert scorps are more aggressive and do not get as large. A centipede is really just for looking at. If one grabs onto you and bites down, it wouldn't be a fun time.
I prefer critters I can handle

as mentioned earlier. SCORPION FTW!!!!
im really surprised you didnt get one after all that time you were debating it before.
coming from the tropicals to desert species i must say desert species are much easier to take care of.no tropical issues that come with high humidity and warmth and less chances of mites and one less husbandry thing to check on.
there is a couple of desert species you can handle being the best one Hadrurus Arizonensis.active and build massive burrows.
if your open to other scorpion suggestions i have a huge wish list i can send your way.
on the centipede, even though they make my stomach turn id get one anyway, but definitely second.i want onneeeeeeeee

I actually prefer the inverts that try to take a finger off... Go figure I've been pretty successful at accidentally finding the meanest individuals of even the most docile species (G. rosea who turns around to bite or charge anything that moves... )
Yeah, I'm seriously leaning toward the scorpion first, because like Mark said, I've been thinking them over for such a long time. I'll probably get the pede second they're harder to find here anyway.
Thanks everyone!
