Hi!

I've noticed that many ASF owners/breeders in the US think it's impossible to introduce new adult ASF's to their (adult) colony. I agree that if you just put them together, they will fight and even kill each other! But there are methods to introduce adult ASF's, I do this for about 12 years.

I often feel sorry for the females that get pregnant much too early, because no one tries to form a breeding group with adults - which was the reason for this thread.

Here is a video to proof - the giant (almost 200g!!!) is the new one in my buck group. First I put them together in the bathtub for a while. In this case they accept him immediately, but I was prepared to seperate them with a hand brush.

As soon as they cuddle up, I put them in a small empty box, not bigger than 60x40cm, for a few days, or even weeks in some cases (e.g. aggressive adult bucks) and then gradually increase the space and add equipement.

But I wouldn't recommend the split cage method for ASF's, seems to make them even more aggressive.

And here's the panic box method. For ASF's the box should be as flat as possible. In this case I introduced bucks from 3 different lines:

A few hours later, and the next bigger box:

The next one (2 or 3 days later):

Mission completed.

Hope this was helpful.
