condensation help

i have a rack that i use white melamine for and i was wondering is their anyway to stop the condensation of the water being soaked at the top of the melamine to stop forming im afraid its going to ruin it i have 10 holes in a hatchling tub also... thanks

Short answer, more holes.

Add holes a few at a time until you get the humidity down some, but not too many or you'll lose the heat also.

My melamine rack has had lots of condensation over the past few years and it's not showing any damage yet.

All i use is melamine cause for the amount of animals i have its the most economic. I still have racks i built ten years ago and they are still good. Melamine is very durable and as long as the moisture isnt getting to the bare wood your good. One thing you can do is run a bead of silicone where the melamine drawers meet the melamine sides inside your rack. It will last for a long time

We had a similar issue this past week due to a cold snap. Sometimes if the ambient temps get too much lower than the temps inside the tubs due to the heat tape, the tubs will condensate. Raising the temps in the room may be your solution. I would try that before putting more holes in the tubs.
