Not any that I would use for your snakes. I would stick to ordering one online. I have both a herpstat and Johnson Controls thermostat on my racks and have had no issues.

I would never recommend anything else than Herpstat or Helix on the high end and Johnson and Ranco on the low end which neither can be found locally but need to be purchased online.

Considering how long you BP can live it is a great investment and the last thing you want to do is cut corners when it comes to thermostat.

i have a herpstat and love it. i will be ordering quite a few more. i did just order a cheap one that i seen recommended on another forum. its a hydrofarm, designed for starting seedlings.
i wont be using this for eggs or snakes until i have it running on a fake rack for 3-6 months to see how well it does. i am going to cheaply build a 3 tub rack and use this on it. one i see how it does and how stable it holds temps ill either ditch it or recommend it.

I recommend either Spyder Robotic's Herpstat.

    or

    Reptile Basics Vivarium series thermostats.

Both companies build their thermostats specifically for use with reptiles and stand by their products with excellent customer service.

Unfortunately reptile thermostats are a specialty item and are not typically found at local stores. If you are determined to avoid ordering one online you could check out a local reptile expo, which sometimes have them for sale.

I've heard the Hydrofarms are alright for controlling a single UTH.

However, in my personal opinion, you get what you pay for.

You might find a Johnson A419 locally not at a box store but a good appliance supply or eletronics supply place might have one. I too would recommend the herpstat or any other proprtional T-stat designed for herps. The hydrofarm is ok for an on/off unit. The probe accuracy is poor very poor I have been testing 3 units and they read high of correct and do not read the same. You get what you pay for.
