Do you cool your ball pythons?

Hey I was just wondering how many people that breed ball pythons actually cool there breeders... Also how do you cool them, like do you only drop night temps or drop night and day temps together? Any advice would be appreciated as I'm thinking of breeding for the first time this year.

I usually just bump the thermostat down a couple degrees during breeding season. Best piece of advise I can give is make sure you pair them up every time a weather front moves through your area...that always seems to make them frisky...

Huh that kinda makes sense... so you don't lower the temps at all?

I have dropped Temps day/night previous years. But this year I am actually going with a different plan. I plan to keep temps the same maybe just a couple degrees lower during the day, and heat off at night. Maybe... Lol I have a friend who the past 10 years has had a 99-100% success rate. I'm still trying to find my zen. I'll be watching this thread bc I want to try something different this year.

This is my first year, so I don't have a set way yet, but I have decided not to cool. I've read about quite a few people having success with it and I have a combo rack so I'd have to cool everybody and I only have 1 pair up to size this year.

Re: Do you cool your ball pythons?

Ya I'm in the same boat I have 6 snakes in one rack and only one pair to breed so I don't really want to cool the whole rack... I also live in oregon and the temps in my room drop to 65-70 at night during the winter so I don't want to shut heat off at night. I'm also a college student and don't have the extra $135 to get a herpstat nd. So should I maybe drop my rack to the high 80's like 89 degrees instead of 92-93 it is now?

Last year I had my room thermostat run with a 3° variance instead of the normal 1° and had a night drop on my hot side to 88° and none of my non breeding snakes seemed to mind

Haha seems like alot of us have multi-snake racks and only one pair ready for the season. Im curious to see where this goes.

I was planning on dropping my temps for all snakes from 92 to 82 starting oct. 1. Then on nov. 1 i was gonna start pairing up my couple. If dropping the temps really isnt required i might just start pairing them up a few days after there next feed.

When is everyone gonna start pairng up?

I've been pairing for a couple months now and never cooled. I have 1 pair of 6 that are of size so I don't want to cool everyone.
