    He's A She!!!

After our first visit with the vet today, it turns out that my male normal bp is actually a female normal bp and, according to the vet, she is a good deal younger than I was told when I purchased her.

So, my supposedly 1 year old Ophion is actually my approximately 4 month old 92 grams Nuwa.

I can't really bad mouth the pet store I purchased her from, since they don't specialize in reptiles and when I bought her I didn't know much about bps either. I'm glad I know a bit more about her now and I suppose I had better start changing the name on my photos. LOL.

At 92 grams, I'd hope she wasn't a year! LOL. I have a hatchling out of the egg at 72grams.

I'm glad for you that you've got yourself a nice little girl. Congrats!

I agree, at that size, that would be horrible if she was that weight. I will say a lot of vets don't know a whole lot about snakes though. My first question is how did the vet sex her? I went to the reptile "expert" vet in our area once and he tried to sex my BP by the spurs.... My second comment is that no one can really tell you what the age of a BP is unless they know when it was hatched, but at that size I would hope it was fairly young.

He probed her. And the age was just an educated guess on the vets part, going on others he's seen where the age was actually known.

He did say he could be off on the age a bit and not to hold him to it since ages are hard to determine.

He was recommended to me by the vet I used to work for and seemed very knowledgeable and had a really good personality.

Ok, sounds good to me! At least that vet seems to have a good idea about snakes
