Making wooden dowell rods snake safe?

I would like to put up some dowell rods in the BP and Carpet enclosures but I worry about whether they are snake safe or not.

Why are you putting dowels in a ball pythons enclosure?

Their actually for the carpet but seeing as one of my pastels loves to climb I thought he might enjoy something to perch on too. Don't see why that's such a bad idea.

Its not ... I would think sealing it with a sealant that is water proof would be fine, but to find one that is snake safe? I'm unsure, but I know there are some.
