    Arching and Curling???!!!!

I have recently noticed that my oldest Ball Python has been arching up his back and curling his tail as if suffering from stomach pains. I have never had this problem before, and am wondering if the new fogger I have used a few times could have any contribution to this problem. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated. Kirrah is currently housed alone...

    Hi,

    Could he have been pooping?

Have you been using any chemicals or additives in either the fogger or the house area in general?

Was anything touching him at the time?

Is he still thermoregulating and eating as normal?

    My thoughts exactly.

I'll be blunt. My biggest female ball did that once. She started jerking like crazy, curling her tail and arching her back. It scared me, I thought she was having a seizure or something really bad. Then she let out the longest, nastiest fart I ever heard from a living being. I didn't even know snakes could fart! Hopefully your ball just has a little gas.

Wow! LOL I never imagined that a snake could fart! I have considered the possibily that he may be gassy or constipated, lets hope those are our only issues.

Minnie the Mean Snake farted one day when she was sitting on my lap. I'm ashamed to say this, but she got dumped on the floor in less than a second.

It makes me wonder why some of them felt that they had to evolve venom.

    Re: Arching and Curling???!!!!

LMAO!!! I am really getting a thrill out of all these fart stories! Tell me more! lol...I am looking to witness a gassy expression from my Kirrah, but I have not seen it yet. He has stopped his restless arching and curling since I've soaked him in warm water in the tub. I put him in his enclosure and rather then resuming his restless activity he retreated to the confines of his hide for the remainder of the night.

    Re: Arching and Curling???!!!!

I've had my small collection of ball pythons in a small rack beside my desk in my office for a few years now. Never heard a peep out of them beyond the rustling of paper and the occasional clink of ceramic water bowl against a ceramic hide.

One day, just shortly before we moved this summer...I'm in the office with a couple of my kids...each of us quietly doing our own thing (there's three computers in our office).....and out of nowhere we hear this really loud and looong drawn out ripping fart. .....and then total silence for about two heartbeats before all three of us busted out laughing.

Who said snakes are silent pets?
