How long can food last in a freezer without power?
So I've been stranded in florida since saturday and I believe I lost power at some point. I don't know if I definitely did, or if I did, when/if it's come back on yet. If the freezer wasn't opened at all, how long do you think rats can stay good without power?
My big problem is, I'll be coming home wednesday and by then the power will definitely be back on and I know the rats will be cold. I just don't know if they'll have gone bad.
Any advice?

If your freezer is fairly full, it should be good for 48 hrs. You can ask a neighbor if the power was out for that long.

You can call your neighbors, or the power company in your area to see if indeed you did loose power.
If you did loose power, if the freezer remains cold, things should be ok for a day or two

If they're still frozen, they're still good. If you have access to dry ice you can use that to keep them frozen longer.
In my own personal freezer we had food still frozen after the power was out for a little over three days because we didn't open it until the power came back on.

Well, my problem is that I'm not home. Otherwise I could definitely try to get ice of some sort. I'm worried that it will thaw out and refreeze without me knowing about it and the rats will go bad.

If they at least remain cold it is doubtful they will go bad. Hard for that to happen if the food remains out of the temperature danger zone. I wouldn't worry about it, plus I'd give your local power company a call to ease your mind.
