New and Needing Help!
Hi all,
I'm new to this site and new to reptiles. I've been researching a lot and would like to get a Ball Python. I currently have a 29 gallon fish tank that my 13 year old - 16 inch Algae Eater lives in. I've read many conflicting things about keep a BP in a 29 gallon tank. So, I was kind of wondering, what size tank/cage should I get and where would I be able to buy it?
Any beginner tips would also be appreciated!
Thank you!

Welcome aboard you've come to the right place to learn everything you need to know about Ball pythons and other herps. Here is a link to our Ball python care sheet this should help a bit as you learn to navigate and search the site.

Welcome to the site! There is limitless info and experience on here, so don't ever hesitate to ask questions. There will be different answers for any question, you just have to choose what one is right for you. There is a general "correct" way to keep ball pythons, but the method you use is up to you. I went through a lot of trial and error before I found what worked best for me. As far as this question, I started mine in a 20 gallon long tank. Some people will say 10 gallons is good for a baby, but I think as long as you clutter a 20 gallon long tank it can work very well without having to upgrade at a later time (unless you have a female, she may need bigger than a 20 gallon long tank.) I also find blacking out the sides and back with black Con-tact Paper ($6 at Home Depot or Lows) helps with their security. Be sure to look over the caresheet that Emilio linked, and again, welcome to the site

Re: New and Needing Help!
Thanks for the info!
Another question, when people are listing their collection they have like 1.0, 0.2, 1.1, ect... What does that mean?

1.0 means 1 male
0.1 means 1 female
0.0.1 means 1 unknown sex.
The first number is males, second is females, and third is unknown
