Extreme reptile rescue

Today my sister and I had our two leopard geckos out, Rainne and El Scorcho, when we put them on a movie shelf. We didn't know that it was possible for them to get behind the movies and outside of the thin cardboard backing, and Rainne, being a good climber, thought it would be fun to do that. Well, we have a fireplace behind the shelving and I guess when we pulled the shelf out to get her, she freaked out and ran into this tiny, less than 1" thick slit in it into the very inaccessible fireplace. We thought she could of fallen on the ground and run off to hide, so we locked all of the other pets upstairs and put Scorcho back in her tank, and removed and searched every piece of furniture downstairs. After about an hour, we noticed the slit in the fireplace and went, oh crap, she's probably down there. We tried to see her but couldn't so we started to take the fireplace apart and noticed that there was a place underneathe the fireplace that the slit led to. We all agreed that the fireplace was crappy looking and served no purpose, so we completely destroyed it. When we were taking a short break, Rainne just walked out of the hole with a slightly confused expression. I immediately grabbed her and checked her over for any injuries, but she only had a broken toenail, so I put her in her tank. We finished removing the fireplace, and now we have this enormous hole in the wall with a piece of plywood over it. We are going to fill the hole with a custom bookcase, but I'm just glad we got Rainne out without squishing her.

We were very lucky. If she wasn't in the fireplace, we would of put out a hide for her in every room and moved the catbox into my room.
Rainne has been into two situations like this, and this is the second month we've had her! The first escape was when we were in the car about to leave the herp show we got her at when I took her out of her deli cup to hold her and she jumped off my lap and under the back car seat. That little lizard was born to be a troublemaker!
