Umbilical cord healing
Was wondering how long it should take for the umbilical area to completely heal in a baby ball. I have had an albino male for 2 wks now, he is roughly 16" and weighs 82 grams the day after eating a hopper. I believe his hatch date was mid july. The area is not open or draining. It looks like a small vertical dent/crease with a tiny black speck in the center. I thought the black speck might be a piece of reptile bark stuck or it could be a scab. I was scared to to pull it out but didnt know if this was normal or if we should go to the vet for an exam. He is eating well and doesnt seem to be bothered by it at all.

I'm pretty sure that is normal.

The umbilical area should be healed completely, the vertical line will disappear over time. Could that "black speck" be a black scale?

No, the black spec is not a scale. It is very small, looks more like a tiny scab or possibly a speck or reptile bark that was caught in there as it was healing. I just didnt want to pull on it just in case. It is very small about the size of a grain of salt. It does look better than when he first arrived. It is smaller and the black speck was not there before. I have a pic in the gallery but I am not sure how to ad it to my message

My girl's about the same size, I've had her for nearly the same time, and her umbilical cord scar also has a small black speck in it. I'm not concerned with it,but I'm no expert. It's harder to see it on her since her tummy is all black spotted anyway. It might just be working on healing. She doesn't have anything stuck in it since she's on paper.
