Hi, I've had this female ball python for almost a week now, and I handle her regularly for an hour or so every night. This morning, when she came out to bask, I've noticed two black rings around her pupils that weren't there last night that I handled her. I saw her go down to the water bowl and drink a little bit, which seemed to make the rings vanish. Are these rings the "dents" that everyone talks of when it's a dehydration issue? There's a reptile carpet in the cage with hardwood mulch on top for the substrate and I make sure the humidity stays at 50% at all times on the cool side of the cage. I don't have a humidity gauge on the hot side of the cage, because I've read you're not supposed to mount those on the hot side/basking side of the cage. I will put in a humidity hide tonight just in case, even though she already has a large water bowl. What could be causing the dark rings around her eyes? This is my first snake and I want to make sure to do all that I can to make sure she's comfortable.
