2 problem snakes need advice please

Ok I know we have a million feeding help but I have tried it all and am stumped and hoping to get some aid on these 2 female's that haven't eaten yet the first I got is a yellowbelly female adult from Africa she was imported in laid a clutch for the people that got him then sold to me since then she won't go for any food live or frozen not sure what to do. Then next is a 900 gram female spider she was bought about 2 months back and will bite at food but doesn't take it or anything just strikes at it and then hides in a ball and hiss's and will do it for live prey also the previous owner said she loves live rats so thats what I offer but she just bites at them and for like 5-10 minutes then balls up and hiss's and so I figured maybe frozen thawed might help her relax same issue. Please help????

I would try a live adult mouse for your 900g snake and a live ASF pup for the import.

until i know more about husbandry this would be my first suggestions. the african probably has been through a lot and needs to adjust. I would handle it more maybe a bath or two and establish some trust and confidence. you never know the full history of a snake at this point and make sure its not going into shed. As for the ball he is from a breeder and probably lived in a shoebox rack. he too needs human interaction and time to adjust. As his trust and confidence builds he'll feed. If you ask some of the breeders on this sight that have huge populations, how they feed, it will give you a better picture of what your spider is used to. your big female can wait longer thar you can so let her get really hungry then maybe bite the bullet one time and buy her a gerbil or a quail. Just some thoughts... ezra

Yea that type of action sounds like a defensive move and the BP not being comfortable in it's enclosure.

My setup is an animal plastic rack 32 qt tubs 50% humidity in the tub, fresh water, Herpstat running the heat tape set to ideal temp. I feed once a week and try to keep them all on a comfortable feeding schedule so they can be on a schedule for feeding. thats' as far as my setup.

posted my info on the husbandry I tried to spend a few years studying there husbandry and reading about them and trying to use what has worked successfully for others and as you see always trying to gain more knowledge to better care for them. Thanks kindly to everyone who is helping me

The wild caught- It may take her a bit to go back on feed, if you have access to asf's try that. being a wild caught, it may take her a while to come around, she will though.

The spider- Is definitely doing the defensive strike thing, try leaving her completely alone for a week, then offer her a smaller sized prey item, such as a live weanling rat.

well did what I was told left the spider alone for a week and offered a smaller meal and she ate for me today. Thank you all kindly for the help still awaiting on the Yellow-belly but I will be patient.
