Do costal carpets need hight in a enclosure?

Ive been reeding up on coastals and some places say they need the hight to climb, but ive also herd of people very sucessfully keeping them without the hight... so do they need it or not? just so i have it in mind for when i chose a enclosure. I was thinking a 41qt tub for a yearling, but i wasnt sure about hight.

If given the chance to climb they will. 3 of my 4 carpets climb every chance they get.

Mine only goes to the ground when she's had a big meal and can't seem to find a comfortable spot up in the branches. The first 3 months I had her, she didn't venture into the bottom half of her enclosure once (it's about 4 feet tall but 2.5 wide)

I have to agree with the others - given the opportunity they will climb, which makes me feel like they do need it. My little coastal is never on the ground of his enclosure.

Need it? No. They will eat, live, grow, thrive, and breed with 12-15 inches of height in adult cages.

Will they use it? Yes. I have 2 feet high adult cages with basking shelves or other climbing areas.

My yearling intergrades LOVE to climb.

Well i just picked up a coastal in a trade with one of my friends and she doesnt climb on any of the pvc or braces i have in her enclosure unless i pick her up and put her back in on them... She stays in her bottom hide.

My carpet's home. She has plants to hide in at the bottom, and a hide box at the top (that she can barely fit into now, but it is her 'safe place' when she sheds). She spends 90% of her time at the top left where the vine connects.

Just make sure any pvc branches you have are easy to climb, and it doesn't slip off of them. Give it some time to settle in, and get cozy, and you'll probably have a little exporer (especially at night).

If you just got the snake, it probably isn't going to be very active at all anyway since it is new and still getting use to its new surroundings.

As others have said, height isn't necessary, but the snake will utilize any branches and it may lead to a healthier mental state in the snake. Personally, I think height is a good thing to add to an enclosure, but I still believe a carpet's environment should be at least 2 or 3 times longer than it is high.

PVC perches probably aren't the best, either.
