    AAAaaaaaa I had escape !!!!

I have this habbit.. always check my snake couple times a day... so I wake up it the morning.. and firts what i did was checking on "Marduk" my House snake. I keep him in 30 qt tub with divider and lid on top. Lid is locked with set of metal clips... Usually in the morning he is still outside his hide.. after his night business... Today hmm .. Is he in hide... ?? I opened tube check hides ...

He is gone I've dug substrate (they like burrow occasionally) he is not there

I grab my flashlight and start looking in dark places with pounding heart... First place and I see shiny brown movement...

Little bugger try to hide in my Tripod case

Reading all this stories of peoples looking for they snakes for weeks.. You can imagine how relieved I was finding him so quickly...

I have no fricking idea how he manage get out of that tube... What I know.. set of heavy book landing on top of it as well and.... I'm starting looking for cheap 10 gallon with locking lead...

Whew!!! I would have been so sad if you hadn't found him!

I don't trust tubs with lids for snakes. Makes me very nervous when I have to use them even temporarily! A 10 gallon with a locking lid shouldn't be very expensive at all, and they work very well for colubrids.

I know... I was thinking about moving him to rack but he is still on Quarantine stage... and especially that I bring couple mites with him I still wanna wait for another few weeks...

I'm pretty sure that house snakes are direction I'm going to go with my hobby so I see 15qt rack in near future as well but for now.. Going to browse some Craigslist for 10 gallon

if he had mites the dont wait any less than 2 months AFTER YOU SEEN YOUR LAST MITE. mites reproduce on a 28 day cycle. so you may rid teh snake of all mites then 2 weeks later a whole new batch will hatch and you will be starting all over again with the treatment. that is why you must treat every 2 weeks for at least a month and half to 2 months when a mite is discovered.
im very glad that i havnt even sen one for many years.

I found 2 mites on him second day I Bring him from Show..
Have no idea Why i dont see them where I pick Him up or in Deli Cup with I transported him in... maybe those was just transferred on him "empty"... and I was able to see them after they feed...

So far 1 month later everything looks clear.. but just in case I'll keep close eye on him for another month...
Till I dont find some 10 gallon with locking lid... few nice fat Dictionaries combined with few more metal clips making sure he dont get away again

Wow! I know exactly how you feel... My baby Snow Corn Snake has gotten ou MULTIPLE times (weak point on lid) and I always found him/her behind my other tanks, never went far at all. My Albino Corn and Gopher Snake on the other hand, I never found.
