    small hemipenes

Has anyone had a experience with a male ball python having small hemipenes. My male is 425 grams and has really tiny hemipenes. They are the size of female scent glands only red and they are with out a doubt hemipenes. They are thick but not inverted very much. lol If you have seen this or heard of this, please let me know as I would like to know if this will effect breeding? At his size, I would think they would be much bigger, I mean they are tiny. lol I hope he can breed. Have already contacted the seller about it but want other opinions.

    Re: small hemipenes

I would say give him time. He's still fairly small. Maybe he's a late bloomer and hasn't gone through snakey puberty yet?

    Re: small hemipenes

imo,we cannot judge the size of hemipenes from their look after popping them.we will not seeing the whole thing by popping..and that thing also did not fully expand when we pop it,unless you can make it arouse and the hemipenes erect naturally..LOL..

It's not how big they are, it's how he uses them!

when popping out a hemipene, what comes out is only a FRACTION of what the pene actually looks like. this is a corn snakes hemipene, but you get the idea:

A cats penis is about an 1/8 of an inch, they have no problems getting it done. I wouldn't worry too much.
