Does Feeding Day Ever Get Old?

I fed 4 snakes tonight. And I was just as excited to see them eat as the first time my first snake ate. And I am disappointed when some of them take the rat in their hide to swallow so I can't see it.

Does feeding day ever get old for you guys that have 10's and 100's of snakes?

I don't have hundreds of snakes - feeding day might be a different situation if I did! For me, though, it hasn't gotten old - and they can still make me jump when they pounce!

Yes.. with close to 200 snakes to feed every week..it becomes a chore.

Yup! I "only" have a dozen bps, and it can be pretty painful. Especially when I've got somebody who hasn't eaten in 5 months and won't even give a live mouse the time of day. Or when I've thawed 9 rodents and nobody wants the last 3, and I don't want to waste them. So I spend an hour dangling them in front of apathetic snakes, and wind up throwing 2 of them out anyway...

It does with my bigger guy. He likes to, ahem, savor the moment, and sometimes I just want him to finish up already so I can go to bed.

i hear that. lol i have 6 sitting down stairs right now that are gonna go to waste if soemthing doesnt change tonight. everybody ate except these four and these 6 are for 4 snakes that are usually good eaters.. so if that doesnt work im going to try and pawn them off on some of my big fattys that i know will take a second meal. but to answer the question... YES it gets old haha but everytime i get a new snake to eat that is always fun.. it makes feeding time at least a little enjoyable

Nope, never, I usually feed at least 4 of my 5 on feeding day, and I still get just as excited when they strike I agree that when they have trouble finding the head so they can start eating it does get a bit frustrating, but as soon as it gets to the actual swallowing part, I'm still just as fascinated as I was the first time my first snake ate.

But I'm sure with 200 to get through it's a different story...

AT LEAST I've never had anybody kill a live mouse and then get bored with it and refuse to eat it, and after I've made a special trip out to Mesa to buy it, too. I have a friend who feeds about 50/50 frozen vs. live, and this happens to her all the time.

(I've actually noticed the babies are my best eaters. My 1 year-olds eat like clockwork, and then sit around hoping the big mamas won't eat so they can have third and fourth helpings. Doesn't help if I'm left with a rat that's bigger than they are, but they're handy little mouse garbage disposals.)
