does anyone else have a bp that likes to soak in the water dish?

my baby ball python sits in his water dish for hours. I suspected he might have mites so i checked him out and didnt see any but treated him for them anyway just to be safe and that didnt stop him from sitting in there so i took him to the vet and had them check for mites and they said there was no sign of mites either. His enclosure is at the proper temps and humidity as well. He is eating regularly so im not to worried about it i was just wondering if anyone else had a ball python that likes to soak?

what size tank? size is big, balls like to be secure , some tanks can be to large. do you have any hides provides hides, card board boxs are great, they dont look that bad , cheap and when soiled just throw it out. my ball would soak due to stress. add lots of plants and rocks . any more questions you can contact me

How large are your hides? If the hides are too big he may be trying to "hide" in his tighter water bowl. Also, how are you measuring your temps/humidity? Unless you are 100% sure they are accurate, it may either be too warm and he is trying to cool down more or it may be too dry.

Some just like to soak at times. As stated before if all the husbandry is correct, I wouldn't worry

his hides are just big enough for him to get in and out easily and i am using a digital thermometer/hydrometer on on the warm side and one on the cool side.

Then I suppose your snake just enjoys the water.

Ball pythons dont soak unless something is off somewhere. Excessive exposure to moisture with ball pythons will result is scale rot. Need to figure what is causing the discomfort in the cage and fix it.
