    Feeding roughly 110-120g a time

Thought I would pick your brains some more I've had such wonderful advice from here thankyou everyone!

    My next question:

My male BP is eating 4 jumbo mice in one sitting, last night I actually weighed them first, the combined weight was 109g. Would that be a small rat? To be honest the guy who had him before was only feeding him two a time. He doesn't look underweight, I am planning on weighing him on thursday (see my previous thread lol)

Tips for swapping to rats? If I should? I know rats are more nutritional than mice. Thanks in advance

wow, 4 mice is a lot of mice. I would attempt to feed 1 rat instead. Rats are better for your snake, and 1 feeding is much easier on your snake then 4.

I'd say try first, since your snake may not have any issues with rats. If that doesn't work, then there are many many tips...but I wouldn't worry about them until you need them.

My local store doesn't sell frozen rats anymore, and as he was previously fed on mice, I thought I would keep him on them while I sorted out other issues I had, with temps and set up ect. Now everything is good, it's time to adress the feeding, but I will have to order online. So what size shall I go for?

Just remember, one persons medium is another persons small, and yet another persons jumbo!

My "small" rats are between 80 and 120 grams. All of my snakes that are over 1000 grams get these, except my monster girl who is pushing 3600 grams. She get "mediums" that are between 150 and 180 grams. Do I think she could eat bigger, yes I do, but she maintains good condition with these, so why switch ?

When you order, don't base it on size description, go with weight. If he's been doing well on 100 grams of mice, find a rat just a bit smaller than that, because there is a big difference is swallowing 100 grams 25 at a time, and 100 grams all at once. I'd stick with 70 to 90 gram rats. Plenty big enough without going overboard.

I'd suggest going all the way down to 40-50g for the first feeding. You don't want him intimidated by a new and large meal, even if he's big enough to take down 100g. Then his next feeding could be the same size (or slightly larger, based on his girth), just a few days sooner than usual. Then, go back to your regular schedule at the size you intend to feed him.
