    .het pied markers

    Hey guy's,

as I am maybe changing my direction on wich types of morph to produce in the future i stumbled on the next questionmark: are the .het for pied markers also visible on morphs like a spider/pastel/bumblebee? Cause the only pics I have seen of these markers are shown with wildcolor BP's...

Cause i'm maybe thinking of getting an .het pied spider to breed with my pastel, but to produce a bumblebee piebald I should really need to know wich snake i should hold back , i really have a lack of space to keep many snakes so if i hold the wrong one back it really would be a waste of many years...

I'm really just still thinking now, but you know, better get youre facts straight before you commence

Unfortunately there are no het Piebald markers on any Ball Python, normal or morph. Any "markers" you may have seen are a result of the extreme variability of normal Ball Python patterns and can be present on both animals that have the gene and those that do not.

There is no way of telling if a Ball Python truly has a recessive gene until you spend years feeding them, breed them and see the offspring.

This is why it is very important to trust the breeder when buying any BP that is supposedly contains a ressive gene.

    Re: .het pied markers

It's not really the breader i wouldn't trust but me, not holding back the right snake

but if I do a : spider .het pied x pastel breeding and lets say i have an outcome of : 1 pastel, 1 spider, 1 bumblebee and a few wc there is no way telling wich one could carry the .het pied gene to breed back?

The only way to know for sure is to breed your het to a visual pied. You'll either get pieds, or het pieds. What you're talking about is a bunch of possible hets, which would be a pain in the ass to prove out.
