Heat mats safe for plastic tubs?
The ones I've seen all said "glass only", I'm wondering if you can get a plastic safe UTH without having to order online... Although I am considering getting the Intellitemp heat mat from Big Apply Pet Supplies. Any other suggestions?

I've got one of those for my short tailed opossum. It works just fine for him. I haven't used it with snakes or really bothered to check the temps much. It stays slightly warm to touch and he likes it.

The heat mats are fine as long as they are regulated by something (rheostat, on/off thermostat or proportional thermostat) self regulating mats work well too, depending of the rooms temps in some cases. Personally I'd sped the money on a proportional t-stat over a self regulating mat, it offers much more flexibility. Especially if you have unstable room temps.

Re: Heat mats safe for plastic tubs?
All of my tubs use heat mats. I have them controlled by thermostats.

I have heat mats on my tubs. I use thermostats to control temps. I check temps regularly with a temp gun.

Well, if I see the day where 90-95 degrees melts plastic, then I would be worried.

Yep! I used them on my tubs when I had them and they were fine as long as they were controlled by the thermostat
