    New Ackie Enclosure

    Hey Guys (& Gals),

Lots of changes going on here at the moment; adding a whole new room to house the collection, and the first animals to move are the acanthurus.

    Vital stats:

    4x3x3 feet (lxwxh)
12 inches of substrate (dirt/sand mix)

    Here's some pics:

    Enjoy!

I acquired my pair as adults about 4 years ago and they haven't grown to any degree. They're around 18-20 inches long.

What did you use to seal the wood? I think I saw in one of your other posts you use "diamond coat" varathane. Am I correct? That's water based is it not? How does it hold up? The set up and the ackies look great.

Yes I used Varathane "Diamond" finish; semi-gloss interior. Five coats, let it cure for 2 weeks. It was recommended by someone who used it for water dragons and had no problems for 5 years. So far so good.

    Thanks for the compliments
