Question Axanthic lines - are they compatible?

good morning! Quick question....are the Axanthic lines compatible? For example VPI female and TSK male? I was told they are not compatible but I also didn't think they were 2 different morphs....?? I mean I haven't seen any ads for "double het TSK and VPI axanthic".....

Also is it common to get paperwork on each snake showing the line from which they were bred? Or only for hets? Thanks!

No TSK line and VPI line are NOT compatible .
But TSK is compatible with Jolliff line if im correct .
(someone please correct if im mistaken ) .

if you want to produce axanthics your best to breed 2 TSK lines
    or
    2 VPI lines together
just make sure if dealing with Hets they are actually het for it .

and as far as paperwork that pretty much intended for Hets . if you purchase the actual morph paperwork isnt needed cause the proof is already in the snake . but its always good to ask what line the are from when purchasing the animal.
9 x out of 10 when your buying the actual morph it will be listed or written on display what line they are from ..
I love it when people tell me, "You should think before you speak!" I'm like, "I did. It's what I think and I really don't give a crap what other people think."

I read this morning that none of them are compatible with each other on blbc but also that it hasn't been proven yet.

Re: Axanthic lines - are they compatible?

Thanks guys I did end up looking through some other threads but the consensus seems to be that no one has proven the lines compatible. I don't really understand it...because on world of ball python morphs they just have axanthic listed (axanthic spider, axanthic pinstripe, etc) and if the morph itself takes out color so it makes other morphs black and white I don't see how they wouldn't be compatible to eachother....? maybe that part of genetics is just over my head.

But I'm glad I asked because I bought a female VPI line axanthic (very nice girl) and then there was a TSK male for sale locally and I was going to buy him to breed with her. But heck I woulda been ticked to get all normals that are 50% double hets!

Re: Axanthic lines - are they compatible?

Well the looks of them don't matter, if the gene lay on different loci, their not compatible. Even if they produce similar results. I've always herd VPI and TSK lines were tired by a couple people that yielded no results... but it appears it all rumors I guess.

Who knows maybe the double axanthic would stay nice and gray into adulthood? why not give it a shot.

No one has tried it yet of my knowledge, but you could technically breed a visual to a visual, get double hets, breed them together, and see what the double visual looks like ... as stated above, this would be really cool to try.

If TSK is gene 32 and VPI is gene 41 they can't be compatible, but they can look the same.
