    Wink Need some advice

Ok a little background before I get to my current problem. I've had my bp now for 2 months and I have an animal plastics cage that is 4x2x1 cage. when I brought him home my husbandry was spot on. 91° hot side 80° cool side. He eats within 10 minutes of me putting the rat inside his cage.

Now onto the problem at hand. I recently moved into a bigger home and the room I have my snake in has 2 air vents, which I shut off and 2 windows and a ceiling fan. Now every bedroom in this house has two air vents. The problem is now I can't reach 91° on the hot side of the tank anymore. It gets to a high of 89.7° hot side. Cool side is still 80°. Now in order to even get the hot side that hot my thermometer is up to 99.9° and the blinds in the room have to be up. Yes I realize having the thermometer up that high isn't good but not doing so will get my snake sick and the snake won't get burned as I check it atleast 6 times a day. The temp drops to about 85-86° at night.

How can I get the temp up higher without having to go to all that and keep it up? The ambient temp in my room is 80°. The temp in my current room is higher than my old room was too. Oh and since moving he didn't miss his first meal in the new place. Rather he destroyed it.

    Huh?
How are you heating his enclosure?

A UTH on a thermostat is recommended, and a lot more efficient then trying to keep the entire room at that temp.

    Ahh, sorry
Is the UTH heating up? Do you have an infrared temp gun can you check the temp of the UTH itself?
If its not heating up, test the thermostat they can go out.

Ya I have a temp gun. Temp gun, before I left for work, told me the hot side bedding was only at 84° and the bare floor at 86°. I haven't tried checking the mat itself. I'll check when I get home today from work which will be in about 30 minutes. Luckily I have a backup heat mat.
