First bite story - (Warning Picture included)

Okay, I wasn't a member here when I got my first bite back in January so here is my long over due first bite post. (I found the photo on my phone and felt it needed to be shared )

My normal Lily, who was the only snake I had at the time, tagged be back in January. Honestly I don't know what I did to spook her because I was being stupid and not paying attention. Her cage was in my bedroom and I had her out in the living room. I got bit as I was walking down the hallway to put her back.

I even got a nice picture of the after math. (Note, that is neosporin making it super shinny.) I've been bitten several times since, but none have hurt as much as this one did.

So for those of you who haven't shared your first bite story or simply feeling sharing it again please do. ^__^

    Ouch!

As of yet I haven't been bitten, though I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Owy! I too am not part of the bite club. I've been working with balls for going on 6 years and I either know how to read their body language or I Have really fast reflexes. Although my younger brother works for me on a pt basis and just last week he got tagged in the cheek for not paying attention. His bite viginity was taken by my easily spooked male het caramel Jin-Hai. All of the sudden he walks up to me and says Mo I got struck at. He showed me where he got hit and there were 4 little pin pricks of blood coming out of his cheek. Cleaned him up, and asked him if it hurt and he said no I didn't even think he touched me. Just goes to show how quickly it can happen.
He he now pays attention to them a little more and goes a little slower working with them. I've always told him and everyone else. Respect their space and they'll respect yours.

My ball has never gotten me.. but my baby boa got me a few months back. I had kept saying that he was going to get me soon, and yep! he did as I was reaching into his cage to get him out. He must've thought that it was feeding time. I didn't do anything though, I just kept reaching my hand in to grab him. I barely felt it though, and I didn't realize my hand was bleeding until about five minutes later. I'm a little more cautious with him now though, I know not to ignore his curious look about my hand when I reach in, so now I use a hook to try grabbing him until he realizes it's not dinner time. If I can grab him by the back near his tail I do though.

My ball COULD have gotten me last night if he wanted to. I went in to spot clean his cage and he hissed really loud and instead of moving his head away like he usually does, he was curious about my hand. Now, he has been on a hunger strike for a while, but he ate last week and I figured since it had been seven days maybe he was hungry again, so I thawed out a rat for him and put it in there. Needless to say, he happily chowed down on it. So I guess I was lucky I didn't get bitten by him last night. He's a bit bigger than my boa and it probably would have hurt more

My ball python bit me for the first time ever just a couple days ago, it was feeding day and I went to go pick him up to put him in the feeding tank and he tagged me. I was like you bastard so i wiped the blood off of my hand and then went and picked him up again, put him in the feeding tank and he instantly went for the mouse when I put the mouse in there so I guess he was just a tad bit hungry or something

Knock on wood, but I'm still part of the un-tagged club. He did strike at me one time however. Scared the bejeezus out of me, but I deserved it. It was maybe my third time picking him up. When I went to get him, my hand went towards his head and he wasn't too keen on that. My last/only other snake was a corn so picking him up never really involved any thought. Now, I always scopp him from behind the head. Glad I learned that lesson while he was still a little guy haha.
