Got my boy!!!
Well I went out and got my boy (a beauriful little Lesser). I wound with up a glass tank thats a little bigger than I wanted but was assured by some trustworty ppl that he'll be fine with enough hides (got 3 and prob gonna add a water bowl hide, so I think he'll be fine). Sill need to get somthing to cover the 3 walls and it's runnin about 5-7 degrees lower than I'd like so I'm gonna go grab a couple low wattage lamps, those and couple little things and I'll hopefully be all set (I'll try & get pics once its done....I'm a procrastinater so I'm givin myself a deadline of the end of the week for everything ....will check my camera for any worthy pics of him, if not it'll be awhile....after his initial exploration he's firmly entrenched in his middle hide).
One isseue I could really use some help on is keeping up the humidity. I'm using the Coco shaviings as substrate (is supposed to hold humidity better) and have about 60& of the top covered in a towel & glass (the top is about 40/20/40 screen/glass/screen). I keep misting it down good and a bunch of plastic greenery and a good sized log in there (not sure if they help or hurt). I thought of getting a mister but thought that might be a little much. I'm also a bit wooried all this misting coule lead to mold....should I be? Any tips on this are greatly appreciated.

Re: Got my boy!!!
Don't think the top part would work woth my weird screen/glass/screen setup (never saw anything like it), plus my cage is a bit bigger and I'd have trouble lighting it.
I did do a soaking with the mister earlier and things have been better since but who knows how that'll turn out. I would like to know how you have the tin foil stuck up there, and does heat really reflect off it with an UTH....I can see a lamp, but that sounds odd to me.
If ANYBODY has some other ideas I'd love to hear em...

One sheet of tinfoil is the same width as the sides and I stuck it on there with electrical tape so that it blends in with the black edges of the tank. I can't say that the tinfoil is the only thing that is keeping the ambient temps in the mid 80's range but when I didn't have the tinfoil it was in the low 70's. The temp could be a combo of the top being covered, the UTH heat radiating from the bottom and the regular temp in the room. All I know is it works well for me and like I said in the video he has had two good sheds so far. Also, as you can tell that tank is pretty big for that little snake and it doesn't bother him. Of course that could be just my snake and any other would be totally stressed out. I got the glass tank not knowing the benefits of a tub or anything about proper husbandry for BPs. I was totally ignorant and should have read up on it first but I learned and that solution works for me. I actually put the foil on there because I was using a heat lamp but when I switched to a UTH and the temps worked I left it on there.

Re: Got my boy!!!
Well since I haven't been able to get the heat or humiduty stable any other way (can't believe after all the research I did I was so stupid to think I could get the snake and do the setup in one day....was just so desperate to get my snake, then after finding my boy I had to hurry and get his enclosure and of course all they had was glass and I got talked into one thats WAY too big...hopefully my 4 hides and lotsa filler will help him deal with it ok). Anyway, I'm tryin your way now...already got my cardboard tops cut out and fitted (btw, why do you have the one sides hole covered with plexi....thought they were air vents?).
With all the heat & humidity down here in FL it's been a constant fluctuation in those areas (AC, Fans runnin) its gonna be tough but hopefully your idea works out. I'll let ya know....

When I first noticed that you were FL, I wondered why you were having humidity probs? The a/c duh, My crew has their own room, so I guess I'm fortunate in that sense.

Initially I used the plexi because I had a light hanging for some day time light before I read that a day night sequence isn't really needed. Now that plexi works great to regulate the humidity. If its too humid I open it and when it goes back down I close it.

yeah, re-watched ur vid and noticed how that turned into a nice little regulator....pretty nifty (gotta get me some plexi now).
Since I have a little glass area in between my screens on top I just put a little flexible desk lamp on there and seems to light everything up fine.....should be even brighter once I wrap the sides (gotta het a wider roll tomorrow).
