Significance? Spot behind head

I've seen a lot of ball pythons with this little dot behind thier heads right where the pattern starts, and my friend recently picked up a female normal with the same marking just like my male pastel. Is there some sort of hidden-gene thing going on here or is it just a random pattern marking?

I'm guessing it's just a random pattern marking. My lemon pastel has a dot there too and as far as I know she's just a lemon pastel.

I have some with it also.
When determining a granite, the spot behind the head & the shatter pattern are indicators for that particular morph.

I have a female with that spot behind the head too, I'm hoping to prove her out as a granite, she also has the ashen colored belly that I hear is a good sign.

Not the best pic but she has that spot, what better way to prove out a granite than with a clown
