found in pump
I do pond maintence on the side, had a pump not working. This is what I found when the pump was pulled. And no I didnt take the head off the impeller did that.
This is the second time its happened. Ive put a guard over it to see if it will keep them out of it. Ive also found one swimming in the pond, And relocated it.

Water Moccasins I belive, none in pumps the last few weeks, But lots of them around, the house is on the bay with lots of mash land around, pull crabs and crayfish out of the pond all the time. its 28,000 gallons and 6 feet deep.

We get them (Water Moccasins) in our ponds too but I think thats used as a generic name that the locals use for any poisonous water snake over here. I have no idea how big ours is. Its big enough to fish in (Planted trout). Luckily the snakes and raccoons are the only issues we get unless it really has a tough winter (on the beach so not often).

I can't see the head really well but it looks like a (Northern) Water snake, not a Water Moccasin?
Poor little fella either way though...

That's not a cottonmouth. Looks like a northern water snake to me. Hopefully that guard keeps them out of there in the future.

It says you're from Washington state. Water moccasins are not native to Washington. The only venomous in Washington are rattlesnakes.

I don't suppose you still have the body? I would loved that skin!
If it happens again, pop it in the freezer and I'll buy it.
