Appears very light for the last week.

Over the last week, our female beardie has been becoming progressively lighter in color. This might help in determining why, she has been sleeping a lot lately and not showing very much interest in eating. Possible brumation? Do they change color while brumating or when ready to breed. Anyway, here's some pics.

    Before.

    After.

    Thankyou for any info.

Bearded Dragons can change their color for several reasons such as stress, shedding, hot, cold, light and even when wet so all these could all be a factor. Another reason I have noticed is many females will get lighter when gravid similar to ball pythons which tend to "glow" when they are approaching ovulation.

Beardies tend to color up with age as well. How old is she in the first pic and then in the second pic? Is she any particular morph? She looks like a citrus in the bottom pic.

It's much too early for brumation. As they mature, they will eat less, bask and sleep more, and get more colorful. I bet if you took her outside in the bright sun her solar panels would come out again lol. The black or blue bars along the back. They can and do change color pretty quick depending on mood and environment.

If her set up is correct, correct UV light, temperature at basking spot, varied diet with greens and insects, eyes are clear, mouth and nostrils are clear, and she is not making any strange noises when breathing, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Appears very light for the last week.

We're not quite sure of her age. We received her last December as a rescue. I put posts up here back then about her. I also have rescued a big male now, not sure of his age either, just that he is huge. Here s a pic of them, I haven't put them together, not sure if I should or not.

We were also given a hatchling by a friend of ours that breeds them. Here's a pic of cricket.

As I stated in earlier posts the adult female has deformed front legs to due her lack of care before we received her. We have since gotten the bones in her legs to reharden. Could she be bred or wuld ths cause her more problems. By the way she is a Citrus.
