1st clutch of eggs need some opinions

this is my first time breeding and will be my first clutch ever and i had some questions before the eggs come out 1. after i mix the vermiculite and water together do i need to keep on checking every so often to make sure that the vermiculite is still wet or will i not have to worry about it and also i will be using a 6 qt tub and how deep does the vermiculite need to be if i am using a egg crate light panel on top of it.
    thank you

With the egg crate thing use anywhere from an inch and up. The more substrate the less worry about it drying out. Some people don't use vermiculite at all, just water. But you have to watch splashing that way. Check out YouTube lots of different ways that work for people.

If you just use the substrate, use a few inches. So the bottom eggs are slightly buried in it. It should not be wet but enough so it forms a ball in your hand but you have to squeeze pretty hard to get a few drops out.

Check weekly to allow air exchange and if the eggs seem too dry, add some water around the edges of the egg box but not too close to the eggs. If the lid is not air tight, use press n seal plastic wrap under the lid.
